Where is Belladonna of Sadness set?

1973 film by Eiichi Yamamoto

Belladonna of Sadness (1973): 1 real place Wikidata records as its setting in France. Where the anime takes place, not where it was made: an anime is drawn and filmed nowhere, so this is the only kind of location it has.
